Port Wing Fish Boil

We attended this event Labor Day weekend of 2021 not expecting much, but we were surprised by how large it was. Downtown Port Wing was packed with people! There was a sizable art fair, a parade (with candy for the kids), marching bands, music and of course, the famous fish boil. I assume the event will happen again the same weekend every year, but keep a look out for posts on their Facebook page for more info.

Gitchee Gummee Agate Festival

Another amazing annual tradition is this agate and rock festival in Duluth. If you’re a rock hound, like I am, or have kids who are into rocks & agates, this is a really fun event. They’ll even throw agates into a pile of rocks for kids to do some easy agate-hunting (and bring home their treasures for free).

Sea Caves

In the winter, you can explore the sea caves near the Apostle Islands. Check the government website to see when they’re open & safe to explore. Their site is constantly updated with safety information.
